2 and 3/4/2011
Yesterday we didn’t do much, all we did was drive all the way from Henley-on-Thames to Belper, a town surrounded by hills that were so pretty they looked fake!
Today we drove from Belper to Castleton with a stop of at Eyam. Eyam is a town that caught the Plague from London and isolated themselves from the rest of the world till the Plague passed through. We went for a walk through the town and saw some of the houses that some of the Plague victims lived and died in.
When we got to Castleton we walked to the Peveril Castle, it was half way up a big hill. The castle was built 1000 years ago and only one of the towers still stands.
Then we decided to walk up another hill on the other side of the town. This walk was longer and through the private sheep fields of some farmer (there was a public foot path through the fields), all the sheep were looking at me as we walked through their paddocks. While we were walking it started to rain but we decided that we were going to keep walking till we got to the top of the hill. When we got to the top of the hill we were wet, then when we got to the bottom of the hill we were soaking wet, muddy and COLD! As soon as we got to the camp site we hopped straight into the showers (hot showers) and then our pajamas, had soup, played cards and went to bed (all with the heater on!).
Awesomee :D <3 Jem !
